Livres des Merveilles du Monde: Scene, Saba -- To left, phoenix flies above man, wearing scimitar tied to belt, raising pickaxe above hole in ground in which are colorful gems. Scene in grassy and hilly landscape with gems spread around river and trees at right; crenellated castle buildings in background. Initial S of Sabbe decorated with foliate ornament. Miniature for Livre de Merveilles du Monde for ancient kinggdom of Saba (Syria).
