Livres des Merveilles du Monde: Scene, Sardinia -- To left, among two men, one wearing hat, with scimitar tied to belt, holds club, the other, with right hand lifts cup to mouth. On opposite shore, among three men, wearing pointed hats, one extends right finger, one wears scimitar and one wears pouch, both tied to belts. To right, beside tall rock and tree, idol of nude man, with right hand raised and with left hand holding spear is mounted on pedestal. Scene in grassy and hilly landscape with river and trees; crenellated castle buildings in background. Initial S of Sardaigne decorated with foliate ornament. Miniature for Livre de Merveilles du Monde for Sardinia (Italy).
