Initial D enclosing bust of man, extends left hand into center margin, supporting long-necked vase between legs of man, nude except for diaphanous loin cloth, standing in center margin, holding leaf or flower in each hand. He looks toward text of ninth eighth lesson of third nocturn for Matins on 01.12, seventh day in the octave of the Epiphany. Text is chapter from 1st Vespers on the octave of the Epiphany. Margins decorated with floreate ornament and gold balls.
