Miniature:
Evangelist Matthew, holding pen in raised right hand, is seated on chair with attached desk. Evangelist symbol, angel, stands at left, holding inkpot with both hands, with pencase hanging from left arm.
Scene in vaulted church (?) with windows and decorated wall.
Medallions:
1) Evangelist, Matthew: Scene, exorcising Demon from Fulvanus, son of Fulvanus, King of Smyrna (?) -- Matthew, nimbed, raises right hand in blessing over small male figure, wearing cap, with joined hands, kneeling before Matthew. At right are two men, one wearing hat, raising right hand.
2) Evangelist, Matthew: Martyrdom -- Executioner, wearing hat and armor, with right hand draws sword from hilt held with left hand. He stands behind Matthew, tonsured, arms raised, wearing vestments, before draped altar with retable on which are figures.
Margins decorated with border of floreate ornament including dianthus, and inhabited by centaur with spear (?) and shield; man wearing hat, aiming spear toward Matthew (?) in in medallion at left; monkey.
