Within initial E, Evangelist Mark, rays as nimbus is seated on ground, writing with pen in right hand, on scroll on his right knee. Before him is desk on which is open book with pseudo-inscription; inkpot rests on base of the desk. At left, half-figure of evangelist symbol (lion), rays as nimbus, winged, holding scroll inscribed MATHEUS (sic).
Beginning of Collect for feast of Mark, Pope, 10.07.
Within initial D, headless Denis of Paris, nimbed, holds with both hands head wearing miter, crozier supporte by right arm.
Background of dado below red wall decorated with gold scrollwork.

Within initial S, Callixtus I, Pope, rays as nimbus, wearing cross-surmounted triple-crowned tiara and cope, holding stone with right hand, processional cross with left hand.
