Upper half: Christ Child: Infancy, taken to School -- At left, Christ Child, cross-nimbed, wearing pouch around belt, with right hand holding tablet, and with left hand clasped by right hand of Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, with left hand holding whip, both approaching school in which is seated tutor, wearing hat, with left hand holding knife and with right hand holding pen, before open book with pseduo-inscriptions propped on bookstand. At his feet seven youthful males, many with pouches tied to belts, at least three reading from open books with pseudo-inscriptions. Christ Child: Infancy, Instruction -- At right, Christ Child, cross-nimbed, with right hand raised in blessing and with left hand on breast, surrounded by eight seated children, in architectural surround. Outside the building, Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, with joined hands raised, looking on. Scenes not in the Gospels but in the New Testament Apocrypha. Lower half: Christ Child: Miracle, clay Birds -- At left, Christ Child, cross-nimbed, with left hand raising bird, two other birds departing in flight, He is surrounded by six youths all seated in architectural room with crenellated roof. Christ Child: Miracle, broken Pitcher -- At right, Christ Child, cross-nimbed, accompanied by man, possibly Joseph the Carpenter, both with joined hands raised, He is approaching one of three men, wearing hat, the others with Jew’s hats, all gesturing and indicating three boys seated in foreground, one raising vessel beside the others, gesturing, one holding vessel, and the other in rays emitted from Personification of Sun, both beside falling and broken vessels.
