Livres des Merveilles du Monde: Scene, China -- To left, beneath falling snow, dragon and head of dragon with tongues protruding beside fantastic animal, possibly basilisk, partly visible. In center, among group of seven bearded men, four wearing hats, emerge from behind rock, the foremost two look down toward two sacks on shore. To right on water, ship with mast and sail in which are two men, wearing hats, both hold sack, a third man carrying another sack walks on one of two planks toward shore. Scene in grassy and hilly landscape with trees. Initial S of Seres decorated with foliate ornament. Miniature for Livre de Merveilles du Monde for China.
