Within initial M, Luke, nimbed, is seated on throne, holding knife with left hand, writes with pen in right hand on scroll on draped desk. Next to the desk is bookshelf (?); before the desk, evangelist symbol (ox), nimbed and winged, sits holding scroll inscribed LUCAS.
Red background decorated with gold scrollwork.
Beginning of Introit for feast of Evangelist Luke, 10.18.
Within initial B, two men, nimbed, one probably Chrysanthus of Rome, one holding book with right hand.
Background of dado below blue wall decorated with gold ornament.
