Shepherds: Annunciation -- Of two shepherds amid brown and white sheep and rams, one, wearing hat, is seated on ground next to dog. He is holding tool, possibly awl, in right hand and shoe in left hand; another shoe is before him on ground. The other shepherd stands, holding bagpipe under left arm, and chanter in left hand, extending right arm. Both look up at angel, nimbed, holding with both hands, scroll with pseudo-inscription, in sky before bright star. Next to shepherds, under rocky outcrop is pen of wattle on three sides, with enclosed wagon as part of third side. Stream is in foreground with log as bridge. In background are trees and two castles or cities below blue sky with gold stars.
Margins decorated with border of foliate and floreate ornament. Within border, barbed quatrefoils enclosing ox, foliate ornament, dragon, and bird.
Added probably after 1251, heraldic shields of France, France impaling Savoy, Savoy, Savoy with label of three points impaling France in barbed quatrefoils in corners of margins.
