Maccabees: Letter from Jews -- Maccabee, wearing hat, seated on bench, raising both hands, left hand grasping end of scroll held by right hand of man, wearing cap, holding staff with left hand, kneeling on one knee. All in initial F decorated with foliate ornament and animal head with open mouth at upper left of initial. Beginning of II Maccabees.
