Miniature, upper left: 1) Christ: meeting Samaritan Woman -- Christ, decorated crossed nimbus, gestures toward Samaritan Woman, wearing headdress, with right hand raised and holding pitcher with left hand, both between well. She is accompanied by man, wearing soft hat, raising right hand. Tree in background. Miniature, lower left: 2) Christ: anointed by Woman -- Among three men, one with scallopped nimbus, raises cup, and one wearing hat, gestures all are seated at draped table on which are cup, knives and round loaves, beside seated Christ, cross-nimbed, raising right hand. In foreground, nimbed Mary Magdalen kneels on tiled ground and grasps her hair with her left hand and extends her right hand to His foot. Miniature, upper right: 3) Manasseh, King of Judah: bound -- Manasseh, crowned, is bound in stocks, with collar around his neck fastened to chains attached to posts of the stocks, and arms extended to the posts, held there by rings. Scene in room with vaulted ceiling and tiled floor. Miniature, lower right: 4) Christ: Parable, Prodigal Son -- Bearded man, raises left forefinger and extends right hand to extended right hand of son, holding walking stick with left hand, wearing tattered clothes. Miniatures for Richel’s Spiegel der Menschlichen Behältnis (Basel: 1476) with biblical quotes, possible commentary and abbreviated extracts, in German, for extended Chapters 13 (Christ: meeting Samaritan Woman) and 14 in the Speculum Humanae Salvationis.
