Christ: Deposition -- In initial D, Christ, cross-nimbed, with crown of thorns, wearing short loincloth, bleeds from wounds. Nicodemus, standing on ladder behind cross arm, removes nail from His right hand. At right, Joseph of Arimethea stands on ladder with his left arm around body of Christ. On ground at left are Virgin Mary, nimbed and veiled, with joined hands raised, and Evangelist John, his left hand at Christ's waist and his right hand on His right leg. Behind them are other nimbed figures, only nimbi visible. Scene on grassy hillside, with bones on ground, below starry sky.
Initial on gold background and decorated with ornament of rinceaux.
