Miniature, upper left: 1) Innocents: Massacre -- Among two women, wearing snoods, the foremost kneels, with joined hands raised beside sleeping nude infant and the other raises left hand to indicate soldier, wearing hat, holding sword in right hand and with left hand holding nude infant; all before crowned Herod, seated on bench, gesturing with right hand and with left hand holding scepter. Miniature, lower left: 2) Christ: Purging of Temple -- Two men, wearing hats, the foremost with pouch and knife tied to belt, with left hand holds sheep, both depart to left amid ox. Beside column, table is overturned and cross-inscribed money is strewn on floor before Christ, nimbed, with left hand raising scourge and with right hand gathering His garments. Miniature, upper right: 3) Christ: Miracle of raising Lazarus -- Christ, cross-nimbed, extends left hand in blessing toward Lazarus, seated in open sarcophagus, veiled and partly draped with shroud, with joined hands raised, partly supported by hands of nimbed man, possibly apostle, another nimbed apostle, with joined hands raised and veiled woman, raising draped right hand to face before three other figures (some with only nimbi visible). Miniature, lower right: 4) Pharisee: Counsel against Christ -- Groups of two men, wearing hats, gesture and flank seated high priest, wearing miter and vestments, seated on bench and gesturing. In room beneath arch. Miniatures for Richel’s Spiegel der Menschlichen Behältnis (Basel: 1476) with biblical quotes, commentary and abbreviated extracts, in German, for an extended Chapter 14 in the Speculum Humanae Salvationis.
