Legend, Tristan and Isolde: Tristan rescued by Palamedes -- On platform supported by tall barrels, executioner, wearing hat, holding sword with right hand, wearing sheath of sword at waist, extends left hand to head of Tristan, wearing white tunic, covered hands crossed, kneeling before block of wood. Ladder is at far side of the platform. Palamedes, wearing gold plumed helmet and armor, shield at left shoulder, lance at right side, is astride bridled horse next to the platform. Horseman, wearing hat, holding rod with left hand, and group of men wearing hats, most only partially visible, some holding spears, are at right.
