Month, Occupation: January -- Man, wearing hat and fur-lined garment, seated in chair of the barrel type, with both hands extended toward flaming hearth (warming himself); male youth, wearing hat, kneeling on the hearth, with left hand turning spit of two roasting birds, over pan; kettle suspended from hook over the flames; cat seated in foreground.
Behind them, woman, wearing headdress and apron, carrying platter of meat towards draped table spread with flagon, two cups, two other vessels and loaves; cushioned bench in background (feasting).
In far left background, man, wearing hat, carrying faggot before chest and furniture in back; all in room of house with wooden ceiling.
