Scene, Liturgical: Celebration of Mass -- Priest, wearing chasuble, with joined hands raised, stands before draped altar on which is open book, chalice covered with corporal, and host (wafer). He looks toward reredos in three sections. Virgin Mary holds swaddled Christ Child, both nimbed, in center of three sections. They are flanked by two saints, nimbed. Acolyte, hands in sleeves, stands behind the priest and next to cord hanging from bell on bracket attached to wall. Interior scene with two large arched openings; landscape in background. Margins decorated with border of floreate ornament inhabited by two putti. In lower margin, medallion enclosing wreath of leaves surrounding monogram IHS amid rays. Beginning of canon of Mass.
