Evangelist Luke, wearing cap, is seated on bench at round table, writing on sheet on triangular desk. Behind desk is lectern on which is open book. Ox reclines on foot of table around pedestal. Gold tongues drop from above.
Scene in room; landscape with trees and buildings visible through doorway.
Margins inscribed INICIUM SANCTI EUUANGELII and decorated with oak leaves. Miniature and inscription enclosed in naturalistic frame of trimmed branches.
