Herod the Great: Scene, plunged in Oil -- In left column, two men wearing caps and academic garb, gesturing, stand next to tub of oil in which is nude, Herod, crowned.
Christ: Return from Egypt -- In right column, ass, rope around its neck trailing on ground, nibbles plants. Virgin Mary, nimbed and veiled, back-turned, seated sideways on the ass, extends both hands to swaddled Christ Child, crossed nimbus, raised with both hands of Joseph the Carpenter, nimbed, wearing hat.
