Julius Caesar: Scene, Conquest of Gaul, Combat with the Menapii and Morini tribes -- Groups of helmeted soldiers, Romans and the Menapii and Morini tribes (Gauls), battle on shores. To right, three hold shields, one aims arrow in bow, two hold bannered lances and several hold spears. Behind fence on other side of river, one aims arrow in bow, one raises halberd, at least three hold shields and three hold decorated bannered lances, several hold spears. Scene in grassy landscape with trees in background. Figures painted in grisaille. Decorated with ivy-rinceaux and floreate ornament in border above and below left column, including daisies, miniature within gold frame. Initial L of Lors decorated with foliate and floreate ornament. Miniature for Chapter 907 of Faits des Romains.
