Evangelist Matthew, nimbed, with knife in right hand sharpens pen in left hand, and sits on cushioned architectural bench, with feet on footstool, before open book beside pen in inkhorn on lectern with dragon wound around its stem. Above in arc of heaven, half-figure of nimbed angel, as Symbol, holds book in right arm with left hand draped.
