Christ: Piet³l -- Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, wearing wimple, is seated, holding Christ, rays as nimbus, with crown of thorns, eyes closed, showing wounds, partially draped. She supports Him with right hand under His right arm, and holds His left hand with her left hand. Behind them is cross with titulus INRI. In background is rocky landscape with city.
Initial S containing two snails.
Miniature within arched frame supported by columns and architectural elements.
Margins decorated with floreate and foliate ornament, including large branches, strawberry and dianthus, and inhabited by bird pecking snail, birds, hybrid animal and hybrid man.
