Avia of Sicily: Scene, in Prison -- Avia, with scalloped nimbus, in building with towers and domes, raises joined hands to cross-inscribed wafer (host), held in both hands of Virgin Mary, with rays as nimbus.
To right stands Barbara of Nicomedia, wearing headdress, with rays as nimbus, holding tower in right hand and martyr's palm in left hand. Gold scroll background. Quatrefoils at corners of miniature.
Margins with ivy-rinceaux floreate ornament.
