1) Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, Temptation, and Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, rolling Himself in Thorns -- In mouth of cave, Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in monk's habit, holding book with two straps in right hand and raising left hand, looks up toward devil in guise of raven flying toward him.
To right, Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, nude, rolls himself among thorns, in front of his habit lying on ground, and woman wearing snood, inclining her head, and raising her right hand to breast, seated on ground. Three trees.
Scene caption on frame, AFFUIT IN MENTE SIBI FALSA LIBIDO REPENTE. UINCAT UT HANC MIRE CRUCIATUR CORPORE DIRE.
2) Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, chosen Abbot -- The foremost of seven tonsured monks approaches with raised hands before Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in monk's habit, raising his right hand in blessing, in mouth of cave. Building and three trees.
