Roman de la Rose: Scene, Vulcan capturing Mars and Venus -- Venus, wearing nightcap, and bearded Mars, recline side by side, heads on pillows, beneath covers, in draped bed of the canopy type. The bed frame tied with five bows, the one farthest left reached at with left hand of Vulcan, wearing apron, with right hand holding hammer. In foreground, small table on which is mirror and comb beside the bed.
In background, breastplate of armor and helmet are suspended on wall and among three women, one wearing kerchief veil, all gesturing or in conversation with each other.Miniature within architectual frame hung with tassels and with decorative scrollwork.
