Bust of man wearing hat, face partially covered, within initial N. Margins decorated with foliate ornament with knots and gold balls; in lower margin, monk, tonsured, wearing pink habit, sitting (?) on red pillow, grasping stem of foliage with right hand and extending left hand back to gold ball. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson of first nocturn, for Matins on Thursday after Ash Wednesday.
