Confessio Amantis: Scene, Saul sparing Agag and Scene, Saul advised by Samuel -- At left, Saul, crowned, wearing gold armor with lion face (mask) on pallette, holding upturned sword with left hand, with right hand grasps right hand of Agag, crowned, wearing gold armor, and holding left hand on breast. At right, is blank scroll touched by right hand of Samuel, left hand raised. Above him is cloud edged arc of heaven in which is bust of God, nimbed, amid rays, both hands raised.
