Bust of king, crowned, enclosed in initial M decorated with foliate ornament. Margins decorated with floreate ornament, knots and gold balls. In left margin, man, crowned, wearing short garment, hands extended downward together, possibly holding object, looking back over left shoulder toward text of second lesson. Pen flourished initials. Text is first lesson of first nocturn for Matins on Thursday after Ash Wednesday.
