Initial:
Half figure of man raising left hand, within initial M decorated with foliate ornament.
Maccabees: Battle or Maccabees: Battle against Apollonius -- Two confronted soldiers astride bridled horses, crossing swords held with right hands, holding shield with left hands. One is wearing crown, possibly Apollonius. Bleeding dismembered body parts, including head with helmet, and arm and leg both covered with mail, are on ground.
Scene within initial E decorated with foliate ornament.
Margin:
Gold balls, and vine decorated with balls and foliate ornament, inhabited by bird and hybrid animal terminating in foliate medallion enclosing turtle.
Beginning of Maccabees, Prologue III, and I Maccabees.
