Miniature, upper left: 1) Christ: Miracle of Draught of Fishes at Tiberias -- Five nimbed fishermen in boat on water (three with only heads visible), and possibly including Apostles James Major and Evangelist John, one holding fish over net, all in boat (partly visible). Apostle Peter, nimbed, partly kneels on water extending left hand to extended left hand of Christ, cross-nimbed, on water, with right hand holding cross-staff with cross-inscribed on banner. Miniature, lower left: 2) Christ: appearing to Apostles -- Christ, cross-nimbed, partly draped with mantle, bared breast, holding cross-staff with cross-inscribed banner in right hand, raises left hand, surrounded by twelve nimbed Apostles, the foremost including Evangelist John, with left hand raised, and Apostle Peter, extending his hands to the Christ. Miniature, upper right: 3) Apostle, Thomas: Incredulity -- Christ, nimbed, partly draped with mantle, bared breast, with right hand holds cross-staff with cross-inscribed on banner and with with left hand grasps extended left hand of Apostle Thomas, nimbed, partly kneeling. He draws hand of Thomas to His wound on His right side; both before group of six Apostles (some with only nimbi visible). Miniature, lower right: 4) Christ: Ascension -- Feet of Christ ascend to cloudy arc of Heaven above mount bearing His footprints, the mount surrounded by group of thirteen nimbed Apostles (some with only nimbi visible), including Apostle Peter, in foreground opposite Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, both gesturing; all kneeling. Miniatures are proofs for Bernhard Richel’s Spiegel Menschlicher Behältnis (Basel: 1476) with biblical quotes, commentary and abbreviated extracts, written in German, for an extended Chapter 32 and 33 (Christ: Ascension) of the Speculum Humanae Salvationis.
