Evangelist, John: Scene, on Patmos -- John, nimbed, sits with scroll with pseudo-inscription in his lap. Beside him stands eagle (Evangelist Symbol), holding stylus case in its beak. Above, rays emanate from clouds of heaven. In distant background is sea with ships and city.
Miniature enclosed in architectural frame.
Margins with floreate ornament, inhabited by winged fantastic animal. In lower margin are two male figures emerging from flowers, both wearing hats and gesturing.
