Virgin Mary and Christ Child -- Virgin Mary, rays as nimbus, partly veiled, sitting on elaborately sculpted Gothic throne, feet on cushion, with both hands supporting nude Christ Child seated in her lap, both surrounded by four angels, two as musicians, kneeling or sitting, one playing lute and the other harp.
Scene partly in landscape, beneath two arches and with tiled floor, in background walled garden and trees enclosing hexagonal fountain, and building at right.
Miniature within arched gold frame decorated with knotted interlace for beginning of Seven Sorrows of the Virgin.
Margins decorated with floreate and foliate decoration, including columbines, and inhabited by peacock (upper left) and a bas-de-page decoration of recumbent collared dog, biting bone.
