1) Moses: Death -- Within upper-left register of initial H, Moses, horned, eyes closed, reclines on Mount Nebo. Above him, hand of God appears in arc of heaven.
2) Moses: giving Law -- To right, Levite, wearing pointed cap, places Table of Law into ark of covenant.
3) Moses: teaching -- Within lower left register of initial H, Moses, horned, holding Tables of Law in left hand, points with right hand to group of Israelites, wearing caps, seated within lower right register of initial H, some gesturing.
Registers framed by trefoil arches within initial H decorated with foliate ornament, stem forming marginal extender. Female head, wearing berbette and snood, and male head, tonsured, form part of decoration of extender.
Beginning of Deuteronomy.
