Christ: Bewailing -- Christ's body, rayed cross as nimbus, in short loincloth, wounds visible, is laid on draped, decorated sarcophagus. Behind sarchophagus are Joseph of Arimathea, in hat, holding ointment jar; Nicodemus, in turban; Evangelist John, nimbed, arms crossed; Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, hands joined; Mary Magdalen, nimbed, holding ointment jar; and two holy women, one nimbed, both wearing hats. Behind figures is tau cross with titulus partly visible. In background is landscape, including hills surmounted by buildings.
