Mutius of Egypt: Scene, tending Burial of Youth -- Man, eyes closed, as mummy, laying prone on ground, above him nimbed and nude soul, with joined hands raised, borne to heaven by two nimbed angels.
At right, nude man, partly draped with covers, sitting upright in bed with pillow, raises both hands toward Mutius of Egypt, nimbed, tonsured, wearing monk’s habit, with right hand raised in blessing and with left hand on tau-staff.
Illustration of Rufinus of Aquileia, Historia Monachorum in Aegypto, Chapter 9.
