De Casibus Virorum Illustrium: Scene, Plutarch appearing to Boccaccio -- Boccaccio, wearing cap, lies with eyes closed on canopied bed. Petrarch, wearing wreath of leaves and ermine-trimmed mantle, holding roll in left hand, stands and points with right hand toward Boccaccio. Scene in bedroom, with bed and draped cabinet, on top of which are plates, goblets, and pitcher, framed by architectural arch with spiral-carved columns and two roundels at spandrels, both depicting horsemen.
In background to right is landscape with distant city of Florence (?).
Decorated initial enclosing two flowers.
In margins, ivy-rinceaux foliate ornament.
