John XXII, wearing triple-crowned papal tiara, stands holding hilt of sword in mouth, three branches in which is bird, probably dove, with right hand and keys with left hand. At right is winged hybrid with head of man, wearing hat or helmet on which dove, perches. With clawed feet, the hybrid reaches to the keys.
Figures enclosed in frame of interlocking quadrilobe shapes, decorated with foliate ornament and inhabited by animal.
