Upper half: Jacob and Rachel: at Well -- At left, Jacob, raising left hand, standing before wellhead next to bucket hanging from rope, looking toward Rachel, with stick in right hand, standing next to trough with water, and sheep with heads over the trough. From chapter 29 of Genesis. Jacob: wrestling with Angel -- Jacob and angel, arms extended to each other. From chapter 32 of Genesis. Jacob: as Shepherd -- At right, Jacob, wearing hat, holding pedum with right hand, raising left hand to hat, looking up toward goat sitting on top of rocky outcrop; four sheep climbing. Lower half: Jacob and Laban: parting -- At left, four women, veiled with wimples, one grasping hand of child, standing behind man looking toward Jacob, inscribed IACOB, embracing and kissing Laban, inscribed LABAN, wearing hat, sword at waist, spurs. Three or four soldiers, wearing helmets, two raising right hands and astride bridled horses, looking on. From chapter 31 of Genesis.
