Innocents: Massacre -- Helmeted soldier, wearing armor and surcoat, stands with right foot on legs of nude infant and stabs the infant with sword held in both hands. Herod the Great, wearing hat, with purse at waist, holding raised saber in right hand, sitting cross-legged on throne, witnesses scene. Behind the throne stands man, wearing hood. To left beyond low wall is landscape with river, hills, and trees.
Margins with ivy-rinceaux, floreate, and vinescroll ornament. Baguettes with foliate and interlace ornament in left, lower, and right margins. In lozenge in right margin is swan, swimming, with pussy-willows in background. In lower margin are two birds, one with wings extended. baguettes
