1) Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, founding one of Twelve Monasteries -- Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in abbot's habit, holds crozier in left hand and raises right hand toward two men, one wearing cap, holding adze, and the other holding hammer, beside cross-surmounted church building (building scene).
Scene caption on frame, CONSTRUIT HIC CLAUSTRA SOLLERS MONACHIS DUODENA. DANS HIIS PRELATOS MORUM TITULIS BENE GRATOS.
2) Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, Reception of Novices Maurus and Placidus -- At portal of building, Benedict, nimbed, tonsured, in abbot's habit, holding crozier in left hand, extends right hand toward father Eutychius of Glanfeuil and young Maurus of Glanfeuil and father Tertullus of Sicily, and young Placidus of Sicily; one of two fathers wears vair-lined collar and the other wears cap; all stand in front of man and veiled woman and beside woman, wearing berbette, at portal of building.
