Left column:
Pilate: washing Hands and Christ: bearing Cross --Pilate, inscribed PYLATU(US) wearing hat, seated on draped bench, extends hands over basin, held by left hand of man, wearing bi-color tunic, pouring water into the basin from pitcher held in his right hand. Scroll next to Pilate is inscribed INNOCE(N)S EGO SU(M) A SA(N)GUI(N)E HUI(US) IUSTI (Matthew 27:24, variant). At right, Christ, crossed nimbus, carries on right shoulder, cross with three nail holes. Five soldiers are next to Him, four only tops of helmets visible, two holding spears. The foremost holds end of rope around waist of Christ.Right column:
