Miniature, upper left: 1) Christ: Last Judgment, Fifteen Signs (Third Sign) -- Beneath cloud, siren (mermaid), with arms raised, swims beside two dolphin-like fish in water between craggy shores with trees. Miniature, lower left: 2) Christ: Last Judgment, Fifteen Signs (Fourth Sign) -- Beneath cloud, flames engulf landscape with trees. Miniature, upper right: 3) Christ: Last Judgment, Fifteen Signs (Fifth Sign) -- Beneath cloud, flock of eight birds including, owl, crane, parrot and crow, stand in landscape with trees. City in distance. Miniature, lower right: 4) Christ: Last Judgment, Fifteen Signs (Sixth Sign) -- Beneath cloud, broken pieces of buildings including crenellated tower, are strewn among uprooted trees. Miniatures are proofs for Bernhart Richel’s Spiegel der Menschlichen Behältnis (Basel: 1476) with biblical quotes, commentary and abbreviated extracts, written in German, for the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Signs of the Last Judgment.
