Guillaume de Machaut, Livre du Voir Dit: Scene, Wheel of Fortune -- Female personification of Fortune, crowned, standing inside wheel inscribed AFFLUO DISCEDO TALIS LUDUS CUI ME DO, interlacing arms through four smaller wheels inscribed, clockwise from left: UIUENS SUM CARA DUM MORS ACCEDIT AMARA; LUDO COMPSALLI DELUDENS CARMINE FALLO; QUID SUM DISCERNE CUM SCIVERIS ME FUGE SPERNE; and EXCECO MENTEM NE DILIGAT OMNIPOTENTEM.
