Miniature, upper left: 1) Antichrist: Persecution of the Faithful -- Antichrist gestures toward group of three men, one wearing hat, raises scimitar, one raises club, and one leans over veiled woman, arms crossed in front of her, falling to ground. Miniature, lower left: 2) Christ: Last Judgment -- Christ, cross-nimbed, with hands raised, right hand in blessing, shows wounds in hands, side and feet, is partly draped in mantle, seated on cloudy arc, feet on another cloudy arc, flanked above by half-figures of angels, emerging from cloudy arcs of heaven, playing horns, and below by Virgin Mary and John Baptist, both nimbed, with joined hands raised, and kneeling. Below them, among five nude figures, two are women, all rise from grave, some gesture and one with joined hands raised. Miniature, upper right: 3) Christ: Last Judgment -- Christ, cross-nimbed, extends hands toward youthful male, wearing hat, with his left hand raised to face, accompanied by veiled woman with joined hands raised, and another youthful male, wearing identical hat. Miniature, lower right: 4) Christ: Last Judgment -- Christ, cross-nimbed, extends hands toward man, wearing soft hat, with joined hands raised, accompanied by three figures, possibly two men and one woman, wearing headdress (only partly visible). Miniatures are proofs for Bernhart Richel’s Spiegel der Menschlichen Behältnis (Basel: 1476) with biblical quotes, commentary and abbreviated extracts, written in German, for scene for the Antichrist and Christ: Last Judgment (The Jews weep and the Heathens weep).
