Initial P enclosing Apostle Paul, nimbed, seated on high-backed chair, with left hand raised to lectern on which is open book with pseudo-inscription, and with right hand holding sealed envelope extended to right hand of kneeling male attendant, also holding lit tapered candle. Scene in room with tiled floor. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, inhabited by cleric, reading from open book, and three half figures of angels, two gesturing and the other holding blank scroll, emerging from clouds (right and lower); and monkey and bear (upper and lower right).
