Under canopy inscribed with pseudo-inscriptions, Anna, nimbed, veiled, is seated with book on lap and left hand raised to breast. Beside her, Virgin Mary, nimbed, seated on ground, holds Christ Child, rayed nimbus, grasping book on Anna's lap. Open book on pillow is on the ground in front of them.
In background, figure stands under arbor and beside fence on which peacock is perched. Building visible in distance.
Scene framed by border decorated with flowers, including pink, strawberry, rose, viola, and inhabited by caterpillars, butterflies and snail.
