Giles of Provence: Scene, celebrating Mass, and Charlemagne: Scene, receiving Communion -- Accompanied by man, Gisela of Chelles, veiled, and Charlemagne, crowned, stand with their joined hands behind Giles, wearing priest's vestments.
He elevates cross-inscribed wafer above chalice covered with corporal on draped altar. Above, nimbed angel with scroll in left hand descends toward Giles.
Scene beneath double trefoil arches, within decorated initial C with marginal foliate extensions and ball.
In lower margin (bas-de-page) within scrolling tendrils with ball and terminal of hybrid man wearing hood, two men fight with bucklers and swords.
