Christ: crowned with Thorns -- Christ, with crossed rayed nimbus, sits on bench. Helmeted soldier holds palm to joined hands of Christ. Two tormentors, wearing hats, with rods place crown of thorns on head of Christ. Scene in initial H.
Margins with scattered flowers, including dianthus, and vinescroll, inhabited by two birds, butterfly, and two other winged insects. Vignette at lower right:
Christ: Ecce Homo -- Pilate, wearing ermine hat and collar, holding rod in right hand, stands at top of stairs with Christ, with crossed rayed nimbus, wearing short loin cloth, crown of thorns, and mantle, bleeding from wounds, with His arms crossed on His breast. At base of stairs stand helmeted soldiers.
