Evangelist Matthew, nimbed, is seated on throne with attached desk on which is open book. He is holding quill in right hand; hanging over edge of desk are inkpot (?), and weight (?). At left, evangelist symbol, angel, stands beside scroll inscribed SANCTE MATHIAS. Background is gold filigree on blue.
Margins decorated with border of foliate ornament.
