Benedict of Montecassino: Scene, rolling himself in Thorns -- Benedict of Montecassino, nimbed, wearing short loincloth, rolls himself amid thorns, beside his habit slung over tree and pair of shoes to left. Scene in landscape with tree and bushes. Miniature within frame for Chapter 2 of Book II of Dialogues; Benedict of Montecassino overcomes his sin by rolling in thorns (penance).
