Christ: Flight into Egypt -- Three-quarter figure of Virgin Mary, veiled with wimple, with right arm supporting swaddled Christ Child, rays as crossed-nimbus, and with left hand holding bridle of ass, on which she is mounted. To right, Joseph the Carpenter, wearing cap, with staff and sack (?), propped on left shoulder.
Scene in hilly landscape.
Miniature for beginning of Compline of Hours of the Virgin.
Margins inhabited by two moths and scattered with naturalistic roses; against rose background.
